If you’ve been reading our latest blogs, you might have noticed that we can’t help but get caught up in the whirlwind of romance that comes with all aspects of a wedding. From spending hours curating our Pinterest boards and endlessly scrolling on Instagram and Twitter looking at the latest wedding trends, we’ve put together our essential guide to a Baird Mint Collection Wedding.
Of course the first thing on our mind is the wedding rings. Everything leads up to this moment; the moment the bride walks down the aisle and the couple commit their love to each other in front of their loved ones. There’s so much to think about for this moment; the page boy, bridesmaids, maid of honour, best man – not to mention the wedding dress and the setting of the aisle. If you’re getting married in a traditional church, in a stately home or on the beach, you still need to consider how the aisle will be dressed; you will look back on photographs from this moment for years to come – so make sure the aisle is as beautiful as possible. We love flowered archways that provide a stunning backdrop of your vows and candles lining the aisle if you want your ceremony to have a kind of ethereal beauty to it. The decoration will depend on your venue but there’s so much that can be done to really provide a beautiful setting to your wedding ceremony.
The rings are the pinnacle moment in the ceremony; the exchange of the vows is sealed with a ring to wear forever. Aside from the photos, the rings are the only physical reminder everyday of the vows promised on the day and something you can wear with pride that links you to your partner. Make your rings even more special with a handcrafted ring from Baird Mint Collection.
There’s always been huge pressure to choose the right song for the first dance song to really try to summarise your love story and how you feel for one another in a three minute song to always be remembered as ”your song.” Since no love story can be defined by one song or quote, we would encourage you to take the pressure off! Whether you want to go with a traditional Ben E. King number or something that you’ve always danced around the kitchen to together, it’s totally up to you! Meghan Markle and Prince Harry famously recently chose their favourite Whitney Houston track, ”I want to Dance with Somebody” as their first dance for a joyful moment at their reception at Frogmore House, a mile from Windsor Castle.
The ‘it’ colour of the moment, a rose gold or copper colour scheme wedding is really popular for 2018 weddings. Often paired with pastel colours, from dusty blues and pinks, the colours come together to be soft and romantic during your wedding day. We love keeping everything very neutral and then having just hints of the pastel of choice and an accent of copper or rose gold. We do love a base line of a neutral soft cream or gold for things like chair covers, tablecloths and flowers with accents of pastel pink in the flowers, boutonnière, ribbon of the cake and perhaps the bow on the flower girls dress.
Sprinkles of something special
With every wedding, there’s always added touches that will really add the extra magic to your day. Leave Polaroid cameras on tables around the venue (with extra film!) and encourage guests to use them – you could even put them next to cards to write a message on that can be stuck into a scrap book later – it’s a modern take on the guest book which will be much more fun to look back on when it’s complete with candid photos. For the seating plan, get tiny bottles of champagne for each guest and attach a little tag onto it with their name and table number; a fun start to the night and something that encourages everyone to talk and find their number, we’d recommend the mini Moet & Chandon bottles of champagne for this.
Wedding cakes wise, we love personalised ones with toppers that are about the couple but we are partial to a traditional cake with the little bride and groom toppers. That’s not to say they need to be a traditional flavour; Meghan Markle and Prince Harry had a stunning wedding cake with cascading fresh flowers down the cake that was lemon elderflower flavoured – delicious!
We also love the recent trend of scenting a wedding. With scent being such a powerful sense, you can smell something years later and be transported to a time in your life. The idea of candles flickering around the venue can set such a beautiful romantic mood, make sure the scent is right for the season of your wedding and is powerful enough to scent the venue; especially if it’s a bigger venue. Jo Malone work with couples before their wedding to choose not only their wedding perfumes but also the venues scents and create aromas based on the mood and theme/season of the wedding.
Some wedding trends last a season and some last forever, but whether you go modern, traditional or a mix of the two, there’s one thing for sure; your wedding day will remain a treasured memory.
